  • CHFHS PTSA Updates November 2020

FROM CHF PTSA PRESIDENT CRYSTAL CARPENTER

    HI CHFHS Family,

Below you will find a few important updates from CHFHS PTSA.

    HVAC Project Updates

Thank you all that sent messages to leaders expressing the importance of our HVAC Repairs. Based on a 11/5 email from CEO Monica Goldson, here are a few key updates:

    ·      The HVAC project is in the queue for design procurement.

    ·      PGCPS planned a partial roof replacement for FY21, but OMB eliminated all funding for roofs from the approved budget, hence the delay.  It will take two summers to replace the entire roof, but the plan is not to do a full replacement to start.

    • First, we would repair the covers for the curtain walls around the perimeter of the various sections of the roof, the majority of the roof leaks are coming from those locations.  We estimate $250,000 as the cost of this temporary fix.  Building Services could complete this project at any time.
    • Second, we will replace the roof at the same time we do the HVAC work.  This is necessary because the current HVAC units are installed in a manner that prevents us from building up the roof around the existing units. We would have to uninstall them and reinstall the old equipment, which is very costly.   Another issue is that cut-ins for new HVAC units would require us to re-replaced damaged sections of a new roof, also very expensive.

    ·      Mold Remediation: Dr. Fossett will have the Environmental office review the situation this week and decide the appropriate course of action.

Meet and Greet Shayla Adams-Stafford, 11/19 at 7pm

In the interest of self-care, and trying to be mindful of everyone’s “screen time”, we have decided that instead of asking all to attend two meetings this week, we are asking CHFHS members to join our newly elected Board of Education member Shayla Adams-Stafford this upcoming Thursday, 11/19 at 7pm.  We are encouraging members of the Principal Action Committee, parents, students and staff to join this session so we can let our Board Member know about our needs at CHFHS.
