  • CHFHS Updates from Principal Dr. Brown

    Greetings CHF Jaguar family!

I would like to start by congratulating the 1371 students who made the honor roll for the first quarter. This represents 59% of our student population. Additionally we would like to congratulate the 652 students who made the Principal's Honor Roll (GPA's at or above 4.0) and the Eight students who received GPA's of 5.0 during the first quarter. As an institution that prides itself on academic excellence this is outstanding news. This does not mean that every student is adapting to virtual learning.

We understand that this can be an increasingly challenging period for our students and we are here to assist. If your child is not meeting academic or personal success, please reach out to their oversight administrator and assigned professional school counselor for help. There are also a plethora of resources on the PGCPS website that can assist with distance learning and the socio-emotional issues relate to the pandemic and we urge you to utilize them. If you believe that you child is experiencing Mental Health issues I invite you to access additional resources at https://offices.pgcps.org/mental-health/. We are optimistic that our new Jaguar Wednesday initiative will assist in this regard as well.

Jaguar Wednesday's allows all students to engage in tutoring, clubs, activities, lunch bunches and service societies  during the school day. The schedule will include 30 minute classes to focus on attendance and our vocabulary initiative and three separate jaguar hours for these non-traditional learning opportunities. For more details please see our Jaguar Wednesday Presentation PowerPoint . The schedule for Jaguar Wednesday is embedded in the powerpoint and provided below as well:

Daily information on this and other school initiatives are provided to the students via their PGCPS email address. Recorded daily announcements and special presentations can be found there as well.

Though there is still some uncertainty, we are in the initial stages for planning to return to school on a hybrid model beginning February 2021. This will require that students are in the building two days a week and engaged in distance learning three days a week. More information, including how you can opt out of in person learning, is forthcoming. Please continue to check the CHF and PGCPS website for important updates as we forge ahead positively into the future.
