    The purpose of our Community Referenced Instruction (CRI) program is to provide each student individualized academic, social and emotional assistance in order to foster successful integration into the mainstream population as well as to prepare students to function independently in their community and workplace as productive citizens.

    The CRI Department supports the mission and goals of Prince George’s County Public Schools.

    1. Prepare each student for further education, employment and everyday life through the Work Study Program by instilling basic job and survival skills for the world of work; providing life skills that allow students to function as productive citizens
    2. Promote standards, which challenge students to continue to strive for excellence including the taking of honors classes and mainstreamed into “regular education” academic classes
    3. Monitor on a quarterly basis the achievement of students to assure educational progress
    4. Foster the development of creativity through the Speech and Language Program by providing opportunities for individualized and/or group writing, oral communication, and interaction with peers and adults
    5. Provide students with career and vocational guidance to include awareness, exploration, decision-making, community service, introductions to guidance counselors, attending career/job fairs, participation in Community Referenced Instruction, volunteer work experiences, and community trips
    6. Help students gain a positive self-esteem by providing positive reinforcement, work study opportunities, academic achievement recognition, successful behavior recognition
