    Hello!

I would like to welcome you to Lamont Elementary, where "We Strive with LION's PRIDE". We are located in the New Carrollton Community of Prince George's County, Maryland. Our Pre-kindergarten through fifth grade school is a community school with a staff dedicated to developing a growth mindset school culture of excellence through a positive climate of effort based learning, caring, commitment and of personal competency. In promoting equity and excellence for all, we acknowledge and encourage every scholar's individuality and are committed to high expectations for all of our scholars.

The Lamont Elementary staff diligently plans and implements a comprehensive instructional program based on the Maryland State Department of Education Common Core Curriculum Standards, aligned with the Prince George's County Public Schools' goals and curriculum. The academic challenges prepare our students with the necessary skills to become life-long learners and independent thinkers. Our desire is for students to see a relationship between what they are studying and their everyday lives. Our scholars are encouraged to put forth their best effort and work hard every day, so that they can continue to get smart. Our scholars believe that the harder they work, the smarter they will get.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our smart scholars at Lamont Elementary School!

    Sincerely,

    Massa McClain

    Proud Principal of Lamont Elementary

     Vision

All students will achieve academic excellence and strong character

       Mission

Leveraging all stakeholders within the Lamont Elementary School community to create a place of academic excellence where literacy instruction is emphasized across all content areas through a high performing workforce ensuring that all students become lifelong learners who read, write, think and reason.

     Philosophy

As educators, we believe all students have the right to a quality educational program that will develop them into becoming productive citizens in our community. We believe that students should have a well-organized and well-structured academic program that will build strong academic preparation, social and interpersonal skills, and esthetic appreciation for the performing arts.  We believe the education of all students is not confined to the school alone.  The home, the community, and other institutions must play important roles to ensure all students are academically and socially prepared to become lifelong learners.  To provide the best education possible for every student, there must be full participation and collaboration between the school, community, parents, teachers, students and administrators.
