  • General Information

Visitors are welcomed to visit with proper approval.  All visitors should first report to the main office. There, they will gain a visitor’s badge that must be visible throughout the building. Visits should not interrupt the instructional program. Conferences are to be prearranged and must not interfere with the daily instructional program.

Prince George's County Public Schools uses the SchoolMAX Student Information System to manage student data, including grades, attendance records, and schedules. The Family Access Portal allows authorized caretakers to log into SchoolMAX from any computer with an Internet connection and view the child's student information, including current attendance records and assignment scores.

Report cards are sent home with students in November, February and April. The June report card will be mailed to the students’ home.

Parents and guardians may contact their child’s teacher via email, student’s homework/communication folder, or phone. The folder will come home daily with students. For email and phone communication, please use the staff email list or school phone, (301) 301-925-2330.

Seat Pleasant Elementary School welcomes parent volunteers! However, there is a volunteer policy that must be strictly enforced. The policy requires that volunteers undergo a background check and fingerprinting to ensure safety for students, staff and fellow volunteers. Volunteers are allowed to volunteer without a background check for one-time (per year) events. All volunteers must have their identification processed through the Raptor system in the office.  If you would like to volunteer in a classroom or for a field trip, the following options are required.

For $7.00 you can get a commercial background check.  This is good for one year and allows you to volunteer at school and on non-overnight field trips.

The second option is for $61.07 -  you can get fingerprinted.  The fingerprinting is good indefinitely as long as you volunteer at least once a year.  For an overnight field trip, chaperones must complete a full fingerprint background check and form.

Both services are available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 11:45 am and 12:30 pm to 3:45 pm at the Sasscer Administration Building:  14201 School Lane in Upper Marlboro, 20772.

Your child should be in school on time and in class every day.  Students arriving to school after 9:00 AM will be considered tardy. All tardy students must report to the office to obtain a late slip for admission into the classroom. If the student does not have a late slip they will not be admitted into the classroom.

If a student is absent from school, he or she must have a written excuse (date & reason) for the absence. It is the parents’ responsibility to make sure this takes place.  If no excuse is obtained, the absence will be marked unexcused. Lawful absences include:

    Death in the immediate family

    Illness of the student

    Court summons

    Religious holiday

    Violent storms

    Disciplinary suspension

State of Emergency or work related activity which is accepted by the authorities

Parents requesting early dismissal must report to the office and sign out students. The front office will notify the classroom teacher. Under NO circumstances will students be released without notification from the office. Parents will not be allowed to pick up students from the classroom unless permission has been granted from an administrator.
