    PARENT TEACHER COMMUNICATION

    INTRADO SCHOOL MESSENGER

    Lake Arbor Elementary School/PGCPS uses Intrado School Messenger as our robocall and district notification system so that parents and guardians may receive notifications from school. Make sure your information is updated in SchoolMAX. Login to the SchoolMAX Family Portal to ensure that your phone number and address are correct. If they are not correct, contact Lake Arbor ES directly. If you do not have a Family Portal Account, sign up for one today!     Receive messages from your child's teacher and review their daily behavior progress. Class Dojo is a FREE app that connects teachers, parents, and students. Both teachers and parents/guardians can use it to share photos, videos, and messages throughout the school day.       GOOGLE CLASSROOM:

      Students have the same passwords as they used in June during Distance Learning. Try to recall your password and practice entering the Google Classroom prior to the First Day of School. SEE: PASSWORDS below if you are having trouble logging in. 

       

      HOTSPOTS:

      PGCPS will also help non-FARMS families obtain a Comcast or Verizon hotspot for home internet access. To request a hotspot, please call our Parent Center Hotline at 240-696-3315 or pgcps.family@pgcps.org. Or request a HOTSPOT on the LAES TECHNOLOGY PAGE HERE.


      LIBRARY CARD:

      ALL PGCPS Students are eligible to receive a FREE LIBRARY CARD and checkout books and resources for FREE from ANY public library in the Prince George's County Memorial Library System.       MEALS

      Free Meals will be provided to ALL students, Mondays and Wednesdays between 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Students may pick up their meals without having to supply their PIN number or report card. Parents may also pick up meals but they will need to supply the student's report card and/or STUDENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.


      NON-WORKING/BROKEN/DAMAGED DEVICES [iPads or Chromebooks]:

      Parents/Students with NON-WORKING devices may NOT pick up or exchange CHROMEBOOKS at this time but must follow the steps outlined on the TECHNOLOGY TROUBLESHOOTING DOCUMENT #3 listed below. LAES TECHNOLOGY PAGE HERE.

      OPT-OUT:

      If you do not want your student to use video and or audio during live lessons and or engagement tools please view the OPT-OUT NOTICE HERE. Forms were due by September 8, 2020. If you are newly enrolled, and would like an opt-out form,  please contact your teacher.


      PARENT CENTERS / TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANCE:

      Beginning Monday, March 1, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) distance learning Parent Support Centers will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 - 8 p.m. Appointments may be scheduled online or by calling 240-696-3315.

      PUBLICITY RELEASE:

      Parents/Guardians should complete the 2020-2021 PUBLICITY RELEASE FORM to permit or restrict your student’s image, likeness, and works being shared. Forms were due September 14, 2020 at 8:00 am. Please contact your child’s teacher if you are newly enrolled and require this document.

      RISING 6TH GRADERS | SCRIBCHOICE

      Instructions on registering TRANSITIONAL STUDENTS using the SCRIBCHOICE system. Transitioning Students are those who are transferring from one PGCPS school to another [including Lottery, RIsing 6th Grades, Change of Residency, and More.       UNIFORMS:

      From August 31, 2020 - January 29, 2021, students are not expected to wear a school uniform. Students must adhere to the system-wide dress code.


      WIFI ASSISTANCE:

      PGCPS continues to cover the cost of the COMCAST INTERNET ESSENTIALS program, which provides affordable high-speed internet at home for families eligible for free and reduced-price meals (FARMS). The school system will also help non-FARMS families obtain a Comcast or Verizon hotspot for home internet access. To request a hotspot, please call our Parent Center Hotline at 240-696-3315 or visit pgcps.family@pgcps.org.

      Students/Parents have been provided with the ZOOM link to enter their student’s class during the First Week of School.       SCHOOL REGISTRATION:

      Students in ALL Grades who are NEW to the School or District, Pre-Kindergarten Eligible Children, Kindergarten Students, Transitional Enrollment Students may REGISTER FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2020-2021 by visiting: https://www.pgcps.org/registration/. 

      KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION:

      Parents of Incoming/Rising Kindergarten Students ONLY

      ALL Pre-Kindergarten students from last year [School Year 2019-2020] are REQUIRED to update your RESIDENCY in the PGCPS System prior to attending Kindergarten. 


      To update or confirm your Residency for School Year 2020 - 2021 please follow the following steps:


      1. Visit https://www.pgcps.org/registration/

      2. Locate the sentence that reads: Register online here >> 

      3. Click the Transitional link and upload Proof of Residency only. There is no requirement to upload birth certificates or report cards. [Do not upload birth certificates or report cards.]


      Please complete this Residency Update immediately so that your child’s Kindergarten Registration will not be delayed.
