POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Electronics Technician II performs and supervises skilled work in the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of high tech equipment such as computers, public address systems, language lab equipment, electro mechanical and electronic digital clock system, advanced television systems, microprocessor controlled equipment, audiovisual equipment; and incidental applications of related building trades. An employee in this class performs highly technical work on electronic components in the area of computer operations and repairs, advanced television system, clock system repair, and computer networks, etc..  An Electronics Technician II will work as a crew leader on larger projects which includes over all supervision of the project and the supervision, instruction, and assignment of work to Electronics Technician, Electronics Technician I and Trades helpers. Work is performed independently and reviewed by the Master Foreman or Lead.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Assigns, supervises, and issues work to Electronics Technicians, Electronics Technician I and Trades Helpers;

Uses precision test equipment; reads schematics and technical specifications;

Performs repair work on various pieces of high tech equipment such as computers, and the repair and maintenance of electro mechanical and electronic digital clock systems;

Installs and maintains televisions, TV systems, public address systems, scoreboards, and language lab equipment;

Inspects, tests and maintains records on repaired equipment; and

Performs related work as required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Prince George's County Limited master Electrician License or Prince George's County Journey Electrician License. Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator's License with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle;

Considerable experience in the repair, maintenance and testing of a variety of high tech equipment;

Ability to detect by inspection defects in equipment or systems and make proper adjustments and repairs;

Ability to plan and supervise the work of others;

Ability to work from written or oral instructions;

Ability to estimate time and materials needed; and

Ability to plan and implement effective work standards.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

High school graduate supplemented by completion of a recognized apprenticeship or trade school and at least two years of experience at the Electronics Technician I level, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Acts as crew leader as assigned.
