POSITION SUMMARY:


Under general supervision, performs skilled technical work in the area of expertise including administrative responsibility in the planning, modification, implementation, training and monitoring of the Building Services’ maintenance work order system and related software.  The incumbent of this position is responsible for the proper use of the software in all schools and provides solutions to streamline use and collect data for the department.  Provides training as needed to all user groups of the related software.  Troubleshoots computers and mobile devices as related to the use of the software both remotely and through onsite visits.  Analyzes incoming data to create plans of improvement within the department.  

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Visits schools to provide solutions and best practices to all user groups of the work order software;

Oversees and monitors the use of the Building Services’ maintenance work order system and related software, e.g., facilities use, inventory, preventative maintenance, facilities automation, etc.;

Provides training for all user groups of the software;

Troubleshoots computer and mobile devices related to the use of the work order software, onsite or over the telephone;

Provides the Director suggestions for the improvement of the overall use of the software;

Creates standard operating procedures and administrative procedures for the department;

Generates reports and analyzes data pertaining to the use of the software to present to the Director;

Assists in administering contracts, inspecting projects, and taking part in software demonstrations and technical evaluations;

Develops preventative maintenance schedule in coordination with maintenance personnel;

Initiates work orders which include budget code, cost estimate of labor and material, and scheduled date of work;

Enters materials, labor hours, status, and details of the work completed in the online work order management system;

Updates Building Services’ website to include up-to-date handbooks, user guides and general information regarding the work order system; and

Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Comprehensive knowledge of the use of technology, computers, mobile devices and software;

Ability to analyze data;

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;

Ability to inspect work, determine manpower, material and time required;

Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and oral and written orders;

Knowledge of technology (computer and/or mobile device) to enter materials, labor hours, status, and details of the work completed into the online work order management system; and

Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator’s License with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations while operating a Board of Education vehicle.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


High School Diploma required; some college or degree in technology field preferred.  Five (5) years experience with databases, and use of technology, computers and software, preferably in the assigned functional area.

Provides leadership and guidance to assigned staff.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
