POSITION SUMMARY:
The Food Services
Technology Technician provides technical support and technical initiatives for
the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
The
employee in this class is responsible for the installation, maintenance and
repair of all Food & Nutrition Services computer related hardware and
electronics, establishing and maintaining a technology training site for
school-based troubleshooting. The
incumbent reports to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services and receives
administrative support from the Technology Department.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Establishes
and maintains a point of sale technology training site for school-based food
service staff members;
Provides
training, troubleshooting assistance and liaison support to the Food and
Nutrition Services (FNS) Department;
Works
closely with Information Technology Staff to resolve issues beyond their
control;
Assists
with the daily operational results of the point of sale system;
Coordinates
county-wide point of sale technology training activities for school-based food
service staff members;
Provides
daily operational support to schools and ensures operational readiness;
Provides
staff development activities including demonstrations for cafeteria managers;
Provides
and implements orientation programs in schools for new and returning
school-based food service staff and school administrators;
Creates
on-line reporting database forms;
Installs
all Food Service computers and point of sale hardware;
Updates
the FNS software when needed;
Removes
and ships hardware for repair,
Provides
hardware and software troubleshooting assistance and support of end-users;
Acts
as technical liaison between MITS, Food Services, Budget, and Community
Outreach;
Meets
the annual continuing education/training education requirements for USDA
Professional Standards for School Nutrition Employees; and
Performs
related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Experience
in school food service management and operational controls;
Experience
in electronic points of sale;
Experience
in cash control and electronic reporting;
Experience
with large district accounting and reporting procedures;
Knowledge
of school food service policies and procedures;
Knowledge
of office management, methods and equipment;
Knowledge
of electronic forms creations and maintenance, and knowledge of Windows 2000,
Office 2000, client/Server environments, and TCP/IP protocols;
Knowledge
of inventory supply procedures, and cash control;
Ability
to plan, organize, and train others in performing computer processing
functions;
Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
Ability
to work cooperatively as a team member;
Effective
human relations skills; and
Willing
to work flexible hours.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associates Degree in Data Processing, Computer Operation,
Information Systems or a related field, with two (2) years of employment
experience in a large data processing environment; or any equivalent
combination of experience, education and training which provides the required
skills and abilities.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
