POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Glazier II works as crew Foreman in the replacing of glass in metal and wood sashes, aquariums, greenhouses and other appurtenances. An employee in this class is responsible for the completion of work by a crew of Glaziers I, Apprentices and Trades Helpers. A Glazier II also performs the work of a Journeyman, but is distinguished from a Glazier I in the supervision exercised over the other Journeymen. Work is done independently under the supervision of a Building Maintenance Foreman.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Supervises and works in the removal and replacement of broken glass or Plexiglas panes;

Assigns crew of Journeymen, Apprentices and Trades Helpers by oral or written communications;

May serve as Glazier Foreman in his absence;

Supervises the repair and replacement of glass in windows, greenhouses, aquariums, incubators, greenhouse appliances and other fixtures of equipment;

Keeps records and prepares reports; and

Performs related duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator's License with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.

Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and practices of the trade;

Thorough knowledge of the various types of glass and Plexiglas and their uses; and

Skill in the use and care of hand tools; ability to assign and supervise the work of others; and must be in good physical condition.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Completion of ninth grade or trade school course supplemented by completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the trade; considerable experience in glazing work; some of which shall have been at the level of Glazier I; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

May supervise other Journeymen.
