POSITION SUMMARY:


The Instructional Assistant - Montessori is responsible for assisting the Coordinating Supervisor to support Montessori program components and initiatives of school readiness and community outreach to parents.  The incumbent of this position assists in the development and implementation of guidelines and procedures for Montessori programs and initiatives.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Assists in the coordination of parent training and community outreach efforts related to Montessori programs;

Collaborates with school leaders to develop and implement systemic professional development related to schools readiness;

Collaborates with school leaders to develop and implement parent training modules;

Represents the school system at major conferences and on local, state, regional and national committees related to Montessori programs and initiatives;

Presents to parents and community groups on behalf of the Montessori program;

Assists in the preparation of reports and data analysis related to Montessori programs;

Assists the Coordinating Supervisor in the development and management of the program’s budget;

Provides on-going collaboration with community partners to support Montessori programs and initiatives; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Demonstrated knowledge of skills and experience related community outreach;

Demonstrated experience and success as member of a collaborative team responsible for planning and implementing educational programs;

Demonstrated skill in effective human relations and in oral and written communication;

Knowledge and experience of Montessori best practices and community outreach;

Knowledge of school readiness; 

Experience with budget development and management; and

Experience in developing and providing trainings for varied audiences.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, education or a closely related field required.  A minimum of three (3) years in Montessori, early childhood and/or family outreach, with experience in program development and expansion required.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Advanced Professional Certificate issued by the Maryland State Department of Education with Administrator I endorsement required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Assists supervisor with program and staff oversight.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
