POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Supervisor of Instructional Support, the Instructional Materials Clerk II assumes responsibility for performing difficult technical work necessary to carry-out the data acquisition and management tasks associated with entering, updating and maintenance of records within the Office of Instructional Support. The incumbent inputs data associated with department activities into Oracle, TIPWeb and other database systems and develops reports and provides information, as needed. The work involves frequent contact with various other departments within the school system and assignments involve operating gas or electric powered materials handling equipment, and operating passenger vehicles in connection with loading, arranging and inventorying materials. Assignments include use of a computer and other office equipment.  Work is checked for accuracy and compliance with prescribed requirements and procedures.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Solicits, receives and examines input documents for completeness prior to entering data into database systems;

Sets-up, maintains and updates data records and inputs directly into the computer to effect necessary changes; trains employees in the procedures of entering data as needed;

Provides technical guidance by telephone or in writing to stakeholders relative to instructional materials; works in collaboration with other departments and staff to review, reconcile, validate, and archive information and records;

Compiles, analyzes, and prepares information for reports, presentations, and meetings, as requested;

Assists with the process of digital textbooks troubleshooting;

Handles special projects as assigned by the Supervisor;

Supports and assists other areas and employees with procedures, as necessary;

Rearranges or relocates stock as directed to accommodate changing needs and requirements

Operates materials handling equipment or drives passenger vehicles and vans in connection with loading, arranging and inventorying materials;

Participates in making periodic and special inventories;

Loads and unloads supplies, materials and equipment; and

Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Some familiarity with office and warehousing methods and practices;

Possess good knowledge of basic data processing methods, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite;

Ability to count and check parts, supplies and equipment;

Ability to carry out oral or written instructions;

Ability to keep accurate records;

Sufficient physical strength to permit handling the items kept in stock; and

Must be in good physical condition.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


A high school graduate or completion of a GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.  Previous work experience in warehousing, storekeeping, inventory maintenance, including some clerical and data analysis experience required.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland Motor Vehicle License with a driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle.  Possession or ability to possess forklift certification strongly preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
