POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Instructional Specialist for Digital Learning is responsible for most aspects of integrating mobile technology into the district's curriculum.  The Instructional Specialist will act as the primary contact for instructional technology in one or more buildings with mobile technology deployments.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Supports teaching and learning with mobile technology in one or more schools performing the following and not limited to:

Syncing large numbers of iOS devices with instructional material

Locating instructional material to be synced to iOS devices

Providing professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to leverage iOS device usage in the classroom.

Participates in approved professional development activities to keep current on instructional technology skills and software curriculum developments;

Assists in the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and classroom management of materials;

Coordinates both short and long-range planning for the improvement of the program;

Participates in student/teacher or parent/teacher conferences as needed;

Collects, analyzes, and reports school data to school and district-level administrators as requested;

Applies a variety of instructional theories and models, incorporating best practices, student-centered learning and differentiated instructional approaches for the success of all students;

Attends meetings as appropriate for district / building facilitation;

Actively seeks the involvement of parents in the work of  schools and school improvement, and provides appropriate guidance, oversight, and monitoring of services to all students and families;

Provides an overview to principals in the budget development process and expenditures of allocated funds to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines with the primary objectives of increasing student achievement;

Observes and evaluates classroom teachers; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience;

Understanding of district's K - 12 curriculum;

Knowledge of multiple mobile device and desktop platforms, particularly iOS and Mac OSX;

Ability to maintain professional and collaborative working relationships with staff, teachers, administrators, students and the community;

Understanding of desktop operating systems;

Understanding of mobile operating systems, especially iOS;

Experience in planning and providing professional development in areas of instructional technology;

Experience in basic technology troubleshooting;

Experience in assisting staff with technology tools to facilitate teaching and learning;

Possesses a vision for the future of technology in the District;

Possesses a knowledge and passion for innovative use of personal learning tools, especially iPad;

Knowledge of District curriculum software; and

Demonstrated skill in effective human relations and in oral and written communications.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in technology or a teaching certification in a K-12 environment.  

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Advanced Professional Certificate; Administration I Certificate required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

Training and evaluation of academy teachers, building administrators and/or central office personnel.
