POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Principal, the
Instructional Specialist – Junior Achievement 3DE is responsible for the
monitoring of the 3DE Business Management and Finance and related Career and
Technical Education (CTE) programs. The
incumbent of this position is responsible for assisting with the planning,
developing, implementing and monitoring of curriculum, assessments, professional
development and budget of the 3DE program.
The Instructional Specialist will coordinate teacher co-selection and
co-governance, as well as conduct teacher observations and provide teacher
coaching and program evaluation.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Assists
with the coordination of all facets of curriculum and program evaluation for
the 3DE program, including the development and analysis of assessments;
Assists
in the marketing and advertising of the program, enrollment of students and
drives student retention;
Supports
all facets of the 3DE program by providing ongoing staff training and coaching,
and developing programs of study to upgrade the skills and knowledge base of staff,
while ensuring each teacher is following the 3DE model;
Assists
with the review, approval, acquisition and distribution of appropriate
equipment, materials and print and non-print resources, and monitors the use of
program resources;
Develops
mastery and a clear understanding of the 3DE project-based learning/case study
model and the standard correlations within all key subjects;
Serves
as a liaison between the host school and 3DE staff and PGCPS central offices;
Provides
school-level support of parent outreach activities in conjunction with 3DE
program staff; supports onsite visits of volunteers;
Generates
data-driven, evidence-based plans of action to improve student and teacher
performance; provides a narrative from the data that will guide instructional
adjustments to meet students’ needs in the program;
Serves
as an instructional resource for 3DE programs and initiatives to administrators,
counselors, teachers and parents;
Conducts
formal and informal observations utilizing Framework for Teaching (FfT); and
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge of industry standards and MSDE, PGCPS and Business Management and
Finance programs;
Ability to monitor the implementation of the program curriculum and collect
feedback to support the continuous improvements of academic instruction in
schools;
Knowledge of current research and trends in careers with special emphasis
in curriculum, instruction, career experiences and assessment;
Ability to work effectively with classroom teachers, administrators and
professional organizations in providing rigorous academic experiences for all
students;
Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills;
Ability to develop and manage teams; extensive experience working in a
team-oriented, collaborative environment;
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
Ability to present ideas in business friendly or user friendly language;
strong instructional and facilitator skills;
Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attention to detail; ability to
effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure;
Experience in collaborative planning and providing professional
development;
Effective leadership and administrative competency; and
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or
university with an emphasis or coursework in curriculum and instruction and/or
educational leadership required. A
minimum of five (5) years’ experience
in a career and technical education setting.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced Professional Certificate;
Administrator I Certification required. Certified in Framework for Teaching observations preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluates
and supervises assigned staff.
