POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Coordinating Manager, the Instructional Supervisor – Theatre/Drama will assist with planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, supervising and evaluating the K-12 Theatre/Drama instructional programs.  The incumbent will implement the processes and procedures for collecting and analyzing data and evaluating programs.  Additionally, the Instructional Supervisor will assist in ensuring programs are in compliance with federal, state and local mandates while maintaining standards of excellence for students, staff and parent satisfaction.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Provides vision and direction for the K-12 Theatre/Drama instructional and enrichment programs;

Supervises all facets of the K-12 Theatre/Drama instructional programs by assisting educators and administration with program planning and development;

Assists the Coordinating Manager with the development and monitoring of the grants process;

Plans, prepares and provides Theatre/Drama educator training including meetings and other workshops throughout the year;

Coordinates the review and approval, acquisition and distribution of appropriate materials, print and non-print resources, to support all facets of K-12 Theatre/Drama program planning, development and implementation;

Provides ongoing interaction and articulation within and across the Division of Academics, other divisions and departments, and at the systemic level;

Communicates, collaborates and interfaces with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), state representatives, leadership and other local and national organizations;

Develops and monitors system requirements for K-12 Theatre/Drama instructional programs, including use of Canvas, curriculum curation, and organization of program details by school; and

Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Knowledge and understanding of K-12 Theatre/Drama instructional programs in Prince George’s County Public Schools;

Knowledge of state and national standards and benchmarks;

Knowledge of current trends in Theatre/Drama education including pedagogy, performance-based assessment and instructional materials;

Good administrative skills, budget development and fiscal management;

Must be able to efficiently monitor the grant progress;

Must be able to effectively complete program and personnel evaluations;

Must be skilled in the use of various systemic approved technology tools including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Canvas, Flip Grid, etc.

Strong human relations skills, including good written and oral communication abilities;

Must possess the ability to implement processes and procedures for collecting and analyzing data, and evaluating programs;

Development of technology, design and implementation of professional development;

Must have a commitment to professional growth as demonstrated by professional conference attendance and leadership at the county or state level;

Possess the ability to articulate program information to students, parents, educators, administrators, counselors and the community; and

Ability to coordinate event planning as it relates to applications, auditions, performance assessments, honor theatre, festival and other enrichment programs. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Master’s degree in educational leadership from an accredited college or university required.  A minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in an arts specialty school, and five (5) years of successful teaching experience in theatre.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Advanced Professional Certificate; Administrator I endorsement required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Provides supervision and guidance to assigned unit staff.
