POSITION SUMMARY:


The Instructional Technology Specialists will develop activities using technology as an instructional tool. The training will model lessons and act in the role of a technology coach.  This position is responsible for conducting technology integration training sessions and coordinating and supporting the activities of the Instructional Technology Coordinators. The incumbent will assist with identifying, acquiring, and maintaining software products, and assist in the implementation of the system and building-level technology plans.  

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Assist in the development and implementation of PGCPS's Technology Plan;

Design and develop comprehensive training and reference materials;

Coach instructional staff in use of instructional technology tools and demo lessons;

Research technologies that students are using at home to see how they can be used to increase interest in their studies - RRS, WIKIS, Blogs, Palms, Chat rooms,  iPods, Cameras, Camcorders, Electronic Microscopes, Computers, Laptops, Projectors, Clickers, Calculators, etc.

Research ways to improve data collection and performance monitoring of student progress;

Coordinate the activities of the Instructional Technology Coordinators;

Collaborate with Curriculum Technology Specialists, Regional Technology Coordinators, Technology Coordinators, teachers and other instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology;

Conduct staff development in the areas of technology integration;

Follow a plan for professional development and actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally;

Adhere to and communicate copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources;

Conduct technology-based training sessions for instructional, administrative, and support staff;

Prepare and submit accurate reports as required;

Support the activities of the Division of Academics and Information Technology to ensure complementary services as instructional technology is used to increase student achievement;

Manage the development of online courses to support Curriculum and Instruction initiatives;

Review all instructional software purchases for approval and initiate system-wide purchases to support the instructional program, in particular HSA, MSA, SAT, K-1, Moodle, Discovery Education, Safari Montage, etc.;

Plan collaboratively with content area supervisors and regional technology coordinators to conduct professional development and regularly scheduled meetings with school based technology coordinators, principals, assistant principals, and other stakeholder groups;

Communicate critical information concerning technology; and

Evaluate and troubleshoot hardware and software problems, as appropriate.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Demonstrated competence in developing and leading staff development sessions for teachers, principals, and administrators;

Knowledge of state standards, benchmarks, and alternative modes of assessment;

Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process;

Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education;

Ability to infuse technology into curriculum;

Experience in leading staff development initiatives; and

Demonstrated skill in effective human relations and in oral and written communications.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree; Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience required.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Holds or is eligible for Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrative I required

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
