POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Intervention Teacher is responsible for assisting the principal at the school with implementation of Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI2) program, program implementation, staff development and training. This position will report to the school principal.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Works with teachers in the planning implementation of the RTI2 Program;

Provides direct assistance to teachers in the utilization of instructional techniques for student groups;

Conducts informal classroom assessments of students;

Presents a variety of in-service sessions for parents including informational sessions;

Implements RTI2 assessment and identification procedures at the school;

Implements RTI2 Program and provides  instructional support to teachers;

Assists principal in grouping, scheduling, and program implementation;

Teaches demonstration lessons;

Participates in the School Based Instructional Leadership Team;

Attends RTI2 and school-based Instructional Leadership team meetings;

Instructs groups of students in mathematics and reading;

Provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention for identified student(s) and student groups;

Coordinates instructional interventions with classroom teachers;

Monitors student data from multiple sources  and student instructional plans;

Ensures that appropriate materials of instruction are provided; and

Assists with the orientation of new intervention students and their parents to the RTI2 program elements.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Demonstrated professional development experience at the school and/or system level;

Skill and experience with the school improvement process;

Demonstrated competency in developing and leading professional development sessions for instructional staff and parents;

Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Excellent organizational skills/human relations skills;

Ability to work with school teams to exercise initiative in carrying out duties/responsibilities;

Demonstrated computer/educational technology skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel); and

Flexible work schedule that includes travel to multiple schools.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or equivalency required; a minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in Prince George's County Public Schools; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Advanced Professional Certificate with English, Reading, or Mathematics endorsement.


 

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
