POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Technical Training Manager/Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Office of Information Technology in the design and delivery of training for LAN/WAN support, Wireless Support, and the management of computing devices on the PGCPS Network.  This individual will also be responsible for managing one of the districts Technology Distribution Centers (TDCs) and supporting the on-site IT High Program.  The TDCs are responsible for repair, asset tagging and provisioning computing equipment for schools and offices throughout the district.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer and is reviewed in terms of accomplishment of objectives. Assignments are received through conferences, written, instructions/requests affording latitude in independent judgment and action in the performance of duties.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Manage operations and schedule a group of staff to maintain one of the schools district's Technology Distribution Centers;

Focus efforts on customer support and satisfaction;

Knowledge and focus of the Key Performance Indicators for the TDC and the IT High Program;

Supporting the IT High Program by working with teachers, planning lessons, providing classroom support in the form of IT Staff, presentations and Lab Development to improve the skills of the students;

Responsible for designing professional development (training) opportunities for staff;

Responsible for maintaining training certifications in order to provide professional certification opportunities for staff;

Work with a team of staff to support the district's Technology Refresh Program;

Evaluating computers and network components;

Developing procedures that support the effective use of computers by students, teachers, and all other system staff;

Selecting installing, testing and maintenance of software on computer networks; and

Performing other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2008 Server;

Considerable Knowledge of Apple's OS X and iOS; knowledge of Android a plus;

Extensive knowledge with Ethernet networks;

Extensive knowledge of hardware repair;

Knowledge and experience with Local Area installation and repair;

Knowledge and experience in the configuration of routers and switches;

Knowledge and experience with Category 5(c) data communications design standards;

Knowledge and experience with UNIX;

Knowledge and experience in the configuration of file servers;

Ability to maintain and troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity;

Knowledge and experience with computer imaging;

Demonstrated training skills;

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; and

Excellent human relation skills.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Sciences with at least five (5) year's experience preferred; or any combination of applicable education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform effectively in this position.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.  mctip server admin / mctip enterprise admin / mctip infrastructure admin aruba certified professional.


 

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

Work includes the supervision of staff at the Technology Distribution Center and assigned IT Field Technicians.
