POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Network Control Technician performs technical work in the control and maintenance of the Central Garage fleet and fuel management systems and acts as the liaison for Central Garage with the Instructional Technology (I/T) Department, CCG Faster and EJ Ward systems. Work involves maintaining all system software and hardware within the fleet and fuel management systems. Work also includes identifying and resolving operation problems within the CCG Faster and the EJ Ward systems; recommending and assisting in the development of new procedures; updating tables and maintaining computer tables within the computer systems. The incumbent must exercise independent judgment and administrative discretion in performing technical work in the control and maintenance of the CCG Faster and EJ Ward systems. The Central Garage fleet and fuel management systems require a thorough knowledge of the departmental financial, budgetary, accountability, staffing, procurement and inventory controls.  Work is periodically reviewed by the Supervisor of Garage Operations.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Explains policies and procedures to Central Garage employees and other employees within the system pertaining to the fleet and fuel management systems; functions as the liaison for the Central Garage Department and CCG Faster and EJ Ward fleet and fuel management systems;

Maintains all system software and hardware within the fleet and fuel management systems; identifies and resolves operating problems within the CCG Faster and EJ Ward systems, and recommends and assists in the development of new procedures; updates tables and maintains computer tables within computer systems;

Maintains appropriate records of work performed at the fifteen (15) garage facilities, as well as prepare a wide variety of reports as necessary for the accounting, finance, budget department, and the supervisor of garage operations;

Daily contact with fueling station locations for dispenser meter readings and fuel tank stick readings; maintain records of fuel consumption and deliveries for all locations; maintain EJ Ward system, daily poling of fuel records, shipping records through the EJ Ward fuel management system to the CCG Faster fleet management system;

Maintain vehicle fuel files for vehicles. Correct odometer readings and take necessary steps to ensure accurate reports from fueling transactions. Coordinates EJ Ward fuel management system equipment repairs;

Responsible for maintenance of all records related to three (3) state mandated Motor Vehicle Administration Inspections, and one (1) mandated Preventive Maintenance program;

Responsible for cortication resulting from these inspections;

Oversee all training and training schedules for Central Garage employees concerning the CCG Faster fleet management system and EJ Ward fuel management systems. Assists in the initial orientation for new users of the Central Garage fleet and fuel management systems, and assign users, I.D. numbers and passwords;

 Oversees upgrades to computer system;

Attends training sessions, regional workshops, and national conferences on the use and update of the CCG Faster and EJ Ward computer systems;

Ability to utilize Oracle applications; Fin.Apps User; PS Budget User; SSP User, Time-keeper User and Position Transaction User in conjunction with the CCG Faster fleet and EJ Ward fuel management systems;

May provide instructions to lower grade administrative clerical support staff assigned within the Central Garage; and

Perform related duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Good knowledge of data processing operations control and network monitoring of hardware and software;

Good knowledge of teleprocessing and network control systems;

Some knowledge of job control language;

Ability to diagnose and resolve problems within the CCG Faster fleet and EJ Ward fuel management systems;

Requires proficiency and the ability to utilize the various Oracle system applications in conjunction with the CCG Faster fleet and EJ Ward fuel management systems;

Ability to train and effectively work with users;

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing; and

Ability to type in accordance with current requirements.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

High school graduate supplemented by courses in computer operations and three years of experience in network control utilizing fleet and fuel management operating systems in conjunction with Oracle applications; Fin.Apps.User; PS Budget User; SSP User, Time-keeper User and Position Transaction User or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
