POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under the direction of the Director - Building Services, Assistant or Area Coordinator performs technical duties such as reviewing facility conditions, assisting coordinators with personnel matters, maintaining inventory records of school supplies and equipment, and serving as liaison for the division regarding construction and addition projects.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Reviews school facility sites, checking for problems or deficiencies and reports to appropriate supervisor, recommending action plans for ensuring cleanliness and/or readiness of facilities as needed;

Assists Area Coordinators with personnel matters, expediting required paperwork to the Personnel Office, notifying employees as directed by them; and maintaining copies of personnel records changes for office use;

Assists Area Coordinators with supply and equipment matters, maintaining inventory records, consumption rates, repair frequencies and causes, recommending alternative plans of action;

Serves as liaison with the Purchasing Office, writing specifications for supplies and equipment, reviewing bids and reporting some to Director/Assistant for final approval;

Attends meetings and provides information as required regarding construction/addition projects;

Notifies Director/Assistant of situations observed as in adequate or inappropriate service and methods, poor workmanship or improper conduct; and

Performs other work and special projects as directed.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Good working knowledge of the principles and practices of building, equipment and grounds maintenance, management, repairs and operations;

Good knowledge of custodial services, practices, and principles;

Ability to develop effective work standards;

Computer knowledge and skill to request and peruse information for reports; and

Ability to communicate effectively with workers and supervisors both orally and in writing. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from an accredited high school with some college course work in business administration or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Possession of an appropriate valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Operator's License with a driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations while operating a Board of Education vehicle.


 

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

Supervise, instruct, and communicate with field custodial staff.
