POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Director of Professional Learning and Leadership and the Instructional Supervisor, the Professional Development Specialist will be responsible for working closely with the Instructional Supervisor on developing, supporting and implementing professional learning experiences for all employee groups.  The incumbent of this position will be tasked with working and collaborating with labor partners and will assist the Office of Professional Learning and Leadership in actualizing its’ core services of support, succession and retention for all employees.  The Professional Development Specialist will operate as a conduit for employees by leveraging evaluation data, systemic survey data, focus groups, and input from key stakeholders to make informed decisions about professional development and learning experiences. 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Collaborates with the Instructional Supervisor in the development and implementation of professional development opportunities, workshops, conferences, institutes, and seminars for all employee groups;

Facilitates seamless communication and workflow products across all project teams and departments ensuring timely deliverables;

Assists the Instructional Supervisor and departmental staff in the planning, monitoring, sustaining and evolving of talent development programs for all employee groups;

Collaborates with the Office of Employee Performance to implement and maintain a system-wide evaluation process;

Works collaboratively with all labor partners as it relates to training needs of all employee groups;

Monitors programs and develops evaluation tools to enhance program effectiveness; creates and tracks metrics related to human capital management; assists with the collection, analysis and utilization of data to drive program modifications and improvements;

Serves as a resource for professional development programs and opportunities; assists in the development of outreach and communication strategies to increase awareness of professional development offerings;

Works collaboratively with area and central offices to assess professional development needs for all employee groups; proactively designs training programs based on business need;

Collaborates with recruitment and staffing personnel to develop sources for highly effective candidates;

Collects and analyzes data to indicate trends, patterns and implications in order to convey through presentations and special reports; creates and conducts presentations and compiles and presents special reports; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Effectively conveys reliable and accurate information so that the recipient clearly understands its intent; use of appropriate written, verbal or electronic communication and excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

Ability to make customers and their needs the primary focus and to take appropriate immediate action to meet concerns; takes personal responsibility to resolve issues;

Must be results oriented with a strong sense of initiative and urgency; and

 Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.) and skilled using the internet for work related research.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, educational leadership, administration, or a closely related field required. Minimum of five (5) years of professional teaching experience required, accompanied by experience in large group organizational training, logistics and event planning.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Advanced Professional Certificate; Administrator I Certification required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


Required to work some nights and weekends as scheduled during various times throughout year.
