POSITION SUMMARY:


The Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Technology Program Coordinator will monitor and assist with all aspects of the Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Technology program, including staff members, students and business and community partners.  The Coordinator reports directly to the Principal regarding instructional and curricular responsibilities.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Coordinating the Aerospace program in conjunction with the appropriate school and central office staff;

Providing leadership in concert with the Principal, for the implementation and management of the Aerospace policies and procedures and curriculum within the school;

Providing direct support to the Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Technology teachers in the area of curriculum and instruction and assessment management;

Monitoring and assessing student achievement in class;

Using data to make recommendations for improving the program and designing and monitoring programs for interventions and support needs;

Informing staff and teachers on professional development opportunities during the entire school year and summer;

Assisting in counseling students and making recommendation for placement;

Planning, organizing and coordinating summer and support programs for students the will encourage active participation;

Planning and implementing special events for students that will encourage, guide, and educate them on the different choices available in the areas of Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Technology;

Engaging in professional activities, which contribute to leadership development;

Communicating effectively with students, staff administrative and supervisory personnel, parents, and community and serve as a liaison between the Aerospace Program and business partners; and

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Minimum of five years of teaching experience;

Knowledge of Science, Engineering and/or Aviation;

Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency;

Ability to organize and prioritize the many aspects of the position;

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills;

Knowledge of the use of computers; and

Evidence of effective leadership skills.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Bachelor’s degree required in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university.  Master’s degree preferred.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Holds or is eligible for a Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.


 

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
