POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under the direction of the principal, the Program Coordinator of Chesapeake Math and IT Academy (CMIT) will assist with the instructional program and pupil service functions of the school. This position is responsible for monitoring, implementing, and assessing the Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program and communicating with appropriate stakeholders.  This employee will assist with coordinating an academic program focusing on mathematics and information technology (IT) for grades 6 through 12.     

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Performs day-to-day operational management in support of Chesapeake Math and IT Academy (CMIT)  initiatives;

Monitors the learning and working environments to ensure safety and cleanliness at the school site which includes participating in the supervision of the maintenance and care of buildings and grounds;

Monitors and recommends program enhancements to the supervisor;

Participates in team meetings i.e. parent Task Force Committee to plan and develop internal strategies and address administrative issues and concerns relative to program implementation;

Manages the student services, which includes coordinating and resolving transportation issues, supervising the safety and welfare of students,  organizing services for homeless students, ensuring adherence to Title I compliance, etc.;

Coordinates communication within the building with school administrators, families, staff, outside agencies, and/or personnel from other programs;

Establishes and implements school policies and administrative regulation pertaining to student activities;

Directs disaster preparedness and safety information programs;

Maintains records and submit reports as required in a timely manner; and

Performs duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

At least three years teaching experience and k-12 education experience;

Experience leading instructional teams (e.g., collaborative planning), interpreting and presenting data to teams, etc.  preferred;

Knowledge of research-based strategies, including technologies, that lead to increased student achievement in STEM content skills and processes;

Knowledge of the Maryland State Curriculum in Science and Math, and the Maryland Technology Literacy Standards for Students as well as local county curriculum expectations;

Demonstrated skill and knowledge in designing, implementing, and evaluating major programs and activities to bring about needed change and higher performance;

Effective oral and written skills in communicating with students, staff, community, district personnel and Board members in a timely, clear and appropriate manner;

Demonstrated knowledge and skill in using collaboration and consensus building in decision-making processes;

Ability to use diversified approaches and processes to involve others in generating solutions, predicting consequences and setting priorities;

Ability to promote the cooperative development of a school site plan, which best meets the needs of students and charter goals;

Working knowledge of the methods and procedures applicable to project management;

Ability to research and interpret research findings, oral and written; and

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in science or engineering;

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Hold or eligible for Standard Professional Certificate (SPC) from State of Maryland; Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) preferred.


 

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
