POSITION SUMMARY:


The Program Coordinator – 3D Scholars Program will support the successful implementation and management of the 3D Scholars dual enrollment model at the assigned school. The Program Coordinator for the 3D Scholars Program will collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, students and program college partners, Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) and the University of Maryland University College (UMUC), to ensure that all 3D Scholars students are successful and develop skills to help them succeed in the high school and college environments.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT

Provides program leadership in concert with the principal and central office, for the implementation and management of the 3D Scholars policies and procedures;

Serves as the liaison among the school, central office staff, and the higher education partners;

Establishes and implements program documents in collaboration with central office and college partners in accordance to the 3D Scholars Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and administrative policies and procedures;

Collects, analyzes and uses data to develop and implement the 3D Scholars program and makes adjustments when needed.; uses data to develop comprehensive support programs that meet student needs;

Communicates effectively to all stakeholders (i.e. administrators, teachers, students, parents and community/business leaders); conducts meetings with multiple stakeholders to include but not limited to parents, students, school staff, higher education staff and the community;

Establishes communication with parents and guardians throughout the year regarding 3D Scholars events, orientation, and grading results;

Recruits and supports students through the 3D Scholars application process and participates on the student selection committee; collaborates with school-based staff, central office and higher education partners on 3D Scholars events such as program orientation, open house, and registration to include transportation;

Plans, organizes and coordinates summer and support programs for students to include dual enrollment advisement as well as appropriate programs for students in grades 9 – 12; and

Assists in the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of all dual enrollment registration for 3D Scholars students, activities and events, including oversight of student academic advising of course selection of program maps.

SYSTEM SUPPORT

Assists students, teachers, parents/guardians and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding the aspects of the 3D Scholars Program and articulation to PGCC and then to UMUC;

Works collaboratively with PGCC and UMUC to present student and parent program/informational sessions on 3D Scholars Program and participates in systemic program initiatives;

Works collaboratively with Student Services team members and 3D Scholars Professional School Counselor to provide wrap-around and other support services to students accepted into the 3D Scholars Program;

Establishes and strengthens the 3D Scholars partnership with UMUC and PGCC.;

Provides appropriate referrals to assist parents/families and students accepted into the 3D Scholars Program to benefit from essential school and/or community resources in order for students to be successful in the program;

Implements proactive positive strategies to increase student success to include facilitating discussions with Disability Support Services and students and parents of students with 504 Plans or Individualized Education Program (IEP); and

Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills

ACCOUNTABILITY

Conducts a yearly program audit to review the extent of program implementation and effectiveness;

Collects, reports and analyzes data to make recommendations for improvement and monitoring programs for interventions and support;

Submits monthly data or program reports in a timely fashion as needed for the 3D Scholars Program;

Compiles data in conjunction with central office, UMUC, and PGCC that reflects the results of the 3D Scholars Program goals by increasing student achievement, student attendance and parental involvement as needed;

Monitors and reports student academic performance, standardized assessment data, progression towards the Associate’s degree, behavior, attendance and facilitates appropriate interventions; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Thorough knowledge of dual enrollment and higher education programs; knowledge of college entrance and placement exams to include Accuplacer, PSAT, SAT, and ACT;

Thorough knowledge of Prince George’s County Public Schools and Maryland State Department of Education policies and procedures;

Experience in program management; highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail; effective time management, documentation and organizational skills;

Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills with the ability to establish good relationships with diverse constituents (teachers, parents, children, board members); clear writer, facilitator and public speaker;

Proven ability to proactively lead by example, effectively manage processes, and respond positively to feedback; demonstrate leadership and organizational skills;

Strong technology experience and skill; proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point);

Experience in providing professional development and workshop facilitation;

Ability to analyze data, including student performance data, to inform next steps; and

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with school administrators, classroom teachers, central office staff, and professional organizations in providing pertinent information to all students.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Master’s degree from an accredited college or university required.  Five (5) years of experience as a high school counselor or high school teacher strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
