POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision and guidance
of the Instructional Supervisor, the Program Coordinator - Business and Finance
Academy, which includes Accounting and Finance, Business Administrative
Services, Business Management, NAF Academy of Finance and Career Research &
Development, is responsible for assisting in the implementation and monitoring
of these programs. In addition to program development and support, the Program
Coordinator will assist with professional development and serve as the liaison
to the Business & Finance, and Career Research & Development Program
Professional Learning Community and the Intensive Career Research &
Development program. The Program Coordinator will provide schools guidance on
student enrollment, instruction, business & finance, work-based learning
employment opportunities; coordinate the Academy of Finance Graduation ceremony
and Employer-Employee Annual Award Luncheon. Additionally, the Program
Coordinator will assist schools with planning experiential learning
opportunities in business education.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Assists
in the implementation, monitoring, and assessment of the Business and Finance
Academy and Career Research & Development programs to assure effectiveness
of teaching, learning and work-based learning opportunities;
Serves
as a liaison to assigned career academy programs to ensure that the academies
are implemented and that the programs of study are followed (including
collaborative planning);
Monitors
program compliance and teacher needs for program improvement and enhancement;
Works
with and supports teachers to ensure that the Business & Finance Academy
curricula are followed and troubleshoots concerns with the appropriate
stakeholders;
Communicates
priorities as they relate to the specific program area and assists in the
development of strategies for continuous improvement;
Executes
program decisions that have been approved by the Instructional Supervisor;
Assists
in the maintenance and enhancement of the Business and Finance Academy
program facilities;
Collects
and analyzes data related to these programs and prepares quarterly and end of
year reports summarizing the findings;
Assists
with planning and conducting professional development for academy teachers of
these programs;
Schedules
meetings, and develops agendas, minutes, and program reports in collaboration
with the Instructional Supervisor;
Coordinates and facilitates
open house orientations, program-specific activities, and other specific events
for parents and students;
Orders equipment, supplies, software
licenses and materials for programs under the guidance and approval of the
Instructional Supervisor;
Assists
with Perkins grant writing and development of all budgets that support the Information
Technology programs as well as required reporting;
Assists with the development of
industry partners and supports teachers to provide experiential learning and
work-based learning opportunities;
Coordinates
logistics for Program Advisory Board Meetings; and
Performs other duties as
assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Strong
instructional skills and a broad knowledge of secondary curriculum;
Five
years’ experience as a classroom teacher;
Experience
in a career academy program setting or industry experience required;
Ability
to work effectively and collaboratively with school administrators, classroom
teachers, post-secondary staff, and professional organizations in providing
rigorous academic experiences for all students;
Highly
self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail;
Excellent
planning, budgeting, and resource management skills;
Effective
time management, documentation and organizational skills;
Ability
to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure;
Excellent
written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;
Extensive
experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
Experience
in providing professional development; and
Proficiency
with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s
degree from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree with
emphasis in one of the career academy fields of instruction and course work in
curriculum development preferred.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Holds
or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate issued by the Maryland
State Department of Education. A Work-Based Learning endorsement is preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
