POSITION SUMMARY:


  The Career Academy Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring the grades 9-12 career academy programs.  The Coordinator will ensure programs provide students with both academic and technical skills to pursue a variety of options after graduation to include apprenticeship programs, degree programs at two- and four-year colleges, private career schools, as well as industry-sponsored education and training.  Additionally, the Coordinator will ensure programs are designed to prepare students for work as well as align with a college prep curriculum.   

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Supervising instruction in the career academy programs to assure effectiveness of teaching and learning;

Coordinating student recruitment/enrollment into the career academy  programs;

Coordinating the maintenance and enhancement of career academy  program facilities;

Coordinating the articulation between the career academy programs and academic programs;

Promoting and monitoring career academy education student achievement in both technical and career academy programs;

Coordinating and supporting career academy education teacher involvement in work-based learning experiences for student;

Coordinating and facilitating open house orientations for parents and students of interest;

Conducting informal teacher/program observations;

Ordering equipment, supplies and materials for programs at various schools;

Processing, assigning and notifying students of application status;

Engaging in professional activities, which contribute to leadership development;

Communicating effectively with students, staff and administrative and supervisory personnel, parents and community; and

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency;

Ability to organize and prioritize the many aspects of the position;

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;

Five years of successful teaching experience;

Knowledge of the use of computers;

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills;

Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft word, excel, and power point;

Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex operations and activities in multiple settings;

Experience working in a vocational education setting;

Effective human relations skills; and

Evidence of effective leadership skills.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred. 

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Advanced Professional Certificate.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
