POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under the direction of the principal, the Program Coordinator - ESOL will assist with the instructional program and pupil service functions of the school. This position is responsible for monitoring, implementing, and assessing the ESOL Program and communicating with appropriate stakeholders.    

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Performs day-to-day operational management in support of ESOL initiatives;

Monitors and recommends program enhancements to the supervisor;

Coordinating and facilitating all ELL projects;

Working with administrative and ESOL staffs in target schools to accomplish goals;

Planning, managing, and monitoring the various county-wide and school-based ELL Programs funded by MSDE Title III;

Locating resources for ELL activities;

Working with schools to assure that previously identified needs of LEP students at individual schools are addressed;   

Planning and leading staff training, as appropriate;

Maintaining records for all ELL activities for program accountability;

Assisting in the ESOL office, as needed.     

Coordinates communication within the building with school administrators, families, staff, outside agencies, and/or personnel from other programs;

Establishes and implements school policies and administrative regulation pertaining to student activities;

Maintains records and submit reports as required in a timely manner; and

Performs duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Minimum three years teaching experience and k-12 education experience (Elementary ESOL teaching experience preferred);

Experience leading instructional teams (e.g., collaborative planning), interpreting and presenting data to teams, etc.  preferred;

Demonstrated skill and knowledge in designing, implementing, and evaluating major programs and activities to bring about needed change and higher performance;

Effective oral and written skills in communicating with students, staff, community, district personnel and Board members in a timely, clear and appropriate manner;

Demonstrated knowledge and skill in using collaboration and consensus building in decision-making processes;

Ability to use diversified approaches and processes to involve others in generating solutions, predicting consequences and setting priorities;

Demonstrated knowledge of issues relevant to second language acquisition and sheltering content instruction;

Experience in planning and conducting staff training;

Ability to research and interpret research findings, oral and written; and

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master's Degree preferred.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

Hold or eligible for Standard Professional Certificate (SPC) from State of Maryland; Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) in ESOL K-12 preferred.


 

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
