POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the Career and Technical Education Supervisor, the Program Coordinator will support the successful implementation and management of the Information Technology and Computer Science Programs in all appropriate high schools.  The Program Coordinator has the overall responsibility for ensuring the implementation and coordination of the duties and responsibilities necessary for the success of each program within the schools to which they are assigned.  In addition to program development and support, the Program Coordinator will assist with professional development and serve as the liaison to the IT/CS Professional Learning Community.  The Program Coordinator will troubleshoot program issues and concerns and provide schools guidance on student enrollment, instruction, professional development and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments.  Additionally, the Program Coordinator will assist schools with planning experiential learning opportunities that have college and career focus.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Serves as the liaison between the school sites assigned and the Career and Technical Education Supervisor;

Assists with media relations, marketing, advisory boards, and general outreach as it relates to the Information Technology and Computer Science programs;

Assists with grant applications related to Information Technology and Computer Science programming;

Plans, conducts, and/or coordinates professional development for Information Technology and Computer Science staff;

Works with and supports teachers to ensure that the Information Technology and Computer Science curriculum is followed and ascertains their instructional needs;

Assists the Career and Technical Education Supervisor in the development and administration of the Information Technology and Computer Science programs budget including local and grant funding;

Collects and analyzes Information Technology and Computer Science programming data and prepares an annual report on the programs;

Serves as a liaison to school staff to ensure that the Information Technology and Computer Science programs are implemented with fidelity and that the programs of study are followed;

Plans career opportunities for students such as guest speakers, field trips, job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other experiential opportunities in collaboration with school staff and the Advisory Board;

Assists with and manages curriculum writing for Information Technology and Computer Science programs to align with MSDE, national standards, and PGCPS requirements;

Develops and processes all orders for Information Technology and Computer Science program improvement and maintenance;

Develops and implements all Information Technology and Computer Science program improvement initiatives;

Facilitates professional development for teachers;

Assists with the recruitment of students;

Attends and assists with the Information Technology and Computer Science strategic planning, team meetings, and professional development; and

Performs other duties as assigned by the Career and Technical Education Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum of five years of teaching experience;

Knowledge of the College and Career Ready philosophy and experience working and/or teaching within an authorized College and Career Ready program;

Knowledge of Information Technology and Computer Science industry standards, MSDE state standards, and PGCPS program curriculum and instruction standards;

Relates positively and interacts effectively with teachers, central office personnel, business partners, and general public;

Maintains accurate financial, inventory, and student data records;

Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills;

Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex operations and activities in multiple settings;

Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency;

Ability to organize and prioritize the many aspects of the position;

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;

Ability to present ideas in business friendly or user friendly language;

Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail;

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure;

Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;

Strong instructional and facilitator skills;

Experience in collaborative planning and providing professional development;

Five years of successful teaching experience;

Knowledge of the use of computers;

Excellent oral, written and oral interpersonal skills;

Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft word, excel, and power point; and

Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex operations and activities in multiple settings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree required.  



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.  Must currently hold a valid industry certification in CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CCENT, CCNA, or CCNA Security, a minimum of one certification required with eligibility to obtain more.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
