POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Coordinator - Pathways in Technology (P-TECH) is responsible
for assisting the Principal with operating the instructional program and
providing educational guidance for the staff, students, and community. The Program Coordinator will work with
appropriate central office staff, business partners and Prince George’s
Community College to ensure program success.
The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for advertising,
recruiting, and educating parents, students and the community about the P-TECH
model.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Provides
instructional leadership, in concert with the principal, for the implementation
of the P-TECH model;
Provides direct
support to classroom teachers in the area of curriculum, instruction, and
classroom management;
Provides staff
development opportunities to teachers during the entire school year and summer;
Assists in
coordinating the P-TECH model in conjunction with the appropriate school and
central office staff;
Assists the
principal in supervising the P-TECH program, within the school;
Assists with
mentor match and accommodating mentor-mentee meetings;
Assists in
counseling students and making recommendations for placing students in the P-TECH
program;
Collaborates with
College Liaison and Business Liaison to provide student supports;
Collaborates with
business partners and Prince George’s Community College to ensure program
success;
Works with central
office personnel to assist in the preparation of curriculum documents,
correlation of instructional materials documents, units of study and program
evaluation for the P-TECH program;
Monitors and
assesses student achievement and participation outcomes with appropriate data
collection and analysis;
Uses data to make
recommendations for improving the program and designing and monitoring programs
for intervention and support;
Plans, organizes
and coordinates summer programs for students in the P-TECH program;
Plans and
implements special events for students that will encourage, guide, and educate
them on the different choices available in the areas of P-TECH;
Engages in
professional activities, which contribute to leadership development;
Communicates
effectively with students, staff and administrative and supervisory personnel,
parents and community on the P-TECH program;
Facilitates
program authorization and program evaluation site visits from the P-TECH
organization, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and other agencies;
and
Performs other
duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum
of five years of teaching experience;
Demonstrated knowledge and
experience implementing curriculum;
Demonstrated
ability to coordinate complex operations and activities in multiple settings;
Demonstrated positive interpersonal
skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations;
Ability to create a team that works
collaboratively and promotes high expectations for all students;
Ability
to organize and prioritize the many aspects of the position;
Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
Ability to work with
diverse populations;
Extensive
knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and
Excellent
oral, written and oral interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a
Master’s Degree required.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Holds or is eligible
for an Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment
issued by the Maryland State Department of Education; Administration
I certification preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
