POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor – Career and Technical Education, the Program Coordinator – TalentReady assists in the implementation and monitoring of the TalentReady program, which is designed to expand student access to college, prepare students for careers in information technology, and meet the growing demand for local IT talent.  The incumbent will assist with professional development and serves as the liaison between program partners, and internal and external stakeholders.  The Program Coordinator – TalentReady will troubleshoot program issues and concerns and provide schools guidance on student enrollment, instruction and assessments.  The incumbent will assist schools with planning experiential learning opportunities that have college and career foci.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Assists in the implementation, monitoring, training and evaluation of the TalentReady program to assure effectiveness of teaching and learning;

Monitors program compliance and educator needs for program improvement and enhancement;

Works with and supports educators to ensure that the TalentReady program curricula are followed and troubleshoots concerns with the appropriate stakeholders;

Communicates priorities as they relate to the specific program area and assists in the development of strategies for continuous improvement;

Collaborates with the TalentReady team to coordinate students’ academic, social and emotional progress;

Executes program decisions that have been approved by the Instructional Supervisor;

Assists in the maintenance and enhancement of TalentReady classrooms;

Collects and analyzes data related to the TalentReady program and prepares quarterly and end of year report summarizing the findings;

Assists with planning and conducting professional development for the TalentReady program educators

Schedules meetings, and develops agendas, minutes and program reports in collaboration with the Instructional Supervisor;

Coordinates and facilitates open house orientations, program-specific activities and other events for parents and students;

Orders equipment, supplies and materials for programs under the guidance and approval of the Instructional Supervisor;

Assists with the development of industry partners and supports educators to provide experiential learning, work-based learning, and internships;

Coordinates logistics for TalentReady Advisory Board Meetings;

Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, Board Policy and Administrative Procedures;

Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials and facilities;

Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives and methods;

Participates with CTE team members to develop appropriate intervention and enrichment strategies for identified students for use in the classroom and through other delivery methods (e.g., after-school); and

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;

Demonstrated experience providing professional development;

Strong instructional skills and broad knowledge of secondary curriculum;

Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail;

Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills;

Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs and Google Applications; ability to use Google Meet and other online meeting tools;

Excellent planning, budgeting and resource management skills;

Effective oral and written skills in communicating with students, staff, community, district personnel and Board members in a timely, clear and appropriate manner;

Ability to use diversified approaches and processes to involve others in generating solutions, predicting consequences and setting priorities;

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with school administrators, classroom teachers, post-secondary staff and professional organizations in providing rigorous academic experiences for all students;

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure; and

Ability to analyze student performance data.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, and five (5) years successful experience in an educational setting required; Master’s degree preferred.  Demonstrated experience in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Cyber Security required.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.  Must currently hold a valid industry certification in Information Technology Specialist in a programming language, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CCT, CCNA, or CCNA Security, a minimum of one certification required with eligibility to obtain more.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.

The TalentReady program was established in partnership with the Greater Washington Partnership; PGCPS is one of three school districts in Maryland to be a part of this initiative.
