POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program
Coordinator – Teacher Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood Education is
responsible implementing and monitoring the Teacher Academy of Maryland and
Early Childhood Education programs, as well as the day-to-day operations for
Financial Literacy, Interior Design and Fashion Design. The Program Coordinator
also works closely with teachers and post-secondary partners providing program
development and support, and professional development opportunities at all
designated high schools.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Implements, monitors and assesses the
Teacher Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood Education programs to assure
effectiveness of teaching and learning;
Monitors program compliance and teacher
needs for program improvement and enhancement;
Works with and supports teachers to
ensure the Teacher Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood Education curricula
are followed and troubleshoots concerns with the appropriate stakeholders;
Communicates priorities as they relate
to the specific program area and assists in the development of strategies for
continuous improvement;
Executes program decisions that have
been approved by the supervisor;
Assists in the maintenance and
enhancement of Teacher Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood Education
program facilities;
Collects and analyzes data related to
the Teacher Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood Education programs and
prepares quarterly and end of year reports summarizing the findings;
Assists with planning and conducting
professional development for Teacher Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood
Education teachers;
Schedules meetings and develops agendas,
minutes, and program reports in collaboration with the supervisor;
Coordinates and facilitates open house
orientations, program specific activities and other specific events for parents
and students;
Orders equipment, supplies and materials
for programs under the guidance and approval of the supervisor;
Assists with Perkins Grant writing and the
development of all budgets that support the Teacher Academy of Maryland and
Early Childhood Education programs, as well as required reporting;
Assists with the development of industry
partners and supports teachers to provide experiential learning, work-based
learning and internships;
Coordinates logistics for Teacher
Academy of Maryland and Early Childhood Education Program Advisory Board
meetings;
Assists in the day-to-day operations for
Financial Literacy, Interior Design and Fashion Design courses; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Strong instructional skills and a broad
knowledge of secondary curriculum;
Five (5) years of successful teaching
experience;
Experience in a career and technical
education program setting or industry experience required;
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively
with school administrators, classroom teachers, post-secondary staff and
professional organizations in providing rigorous academic experiences for all
students;
Highly self-motivated, self-directed and
attentive to detail;
Excellent planning, budgeting and
resource management skills;
Effective time management, documentation
and organizational details;
Ability to effectively prioritize and
execute tasks under pressure;
Excellent written, oral and
interpersonal communication skills;
Extensive experience working in a
team-oriented, collaborative environment;
Ability to analyze student performance
data;
Experience providing professional
development; and
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
required; emphasis in one of the career and technical education fields of
instruction and course work in curriculum development preferred.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced
Professional Certificate; Administration I certification preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
