POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Director of
Instructional Technology, the Program Support Specilist plans, organizes, and
supervises projects as they relate to the District's student information system
providing assistance and technical support to district and school site users;
plans, directs and coordinates the administration of the Student Information
System, plans and coordinates the implementation, installation and maintenance
of it's hardware and software; manages and supports the planning, implementation,
data entry, data retrieval and assessment of data collection and reporting
procedures to meet Federal, State and Local requirements; assists staff in the
development, testing, implementation, modification and maintenance of all
student data systems to monitor and evaluate student progress; supervises
collection and statistics processing of data; and provides general overall
departmental coordination and output.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Develops
procedures and directs implementation of permanent student records/transcripts
preservation, distribution, and retrieval in accordance with Federal and State
legislation and Board policy;
Supports
the implementation and provides training for school-based administrators,
counselors, instructional and clerical staff on use of student information
systems applications;
Supports
communication between State Department of Education, local Board, school and
other departments, parents, and community members for the purpose of providing
requested student information;
Develops
and provides in-service activities and procedural manuals to administrators,
teachers, and classified staff regarding reporting procedures for
enrollment/attendance, FTE, student records, special education, and student
information system applications;
Assists
in providing impact data for long-range planning;
Submits
enrollment information to meet Federal and State requirements;
Revises
and disseminates departmental procedures and serves as a resource for various
planning committees;
Assists in designing and implementing processes for data
retrieval and submission
Maintains
prioritized list of work requests for enhancements, making work
assignments for
the support team, ensuring schedules are met by the team;
Provides
input to technical personnel on infrastructure-related issues that affect the
development/support
of the applications;
Elicits and
documents customer requirements in a manner that translates into technical
solutions;
Organizes and
documents current student information processes and their relationship to
existing student information systems and keeps up-to-date;
Effectively
communicates with departments and schools regarding any and all Student
Information initiatives and requirements;
Monitors the
daily, monthly and annual schedule of events related to student data
(class/student
scheduling, release of report cards, student registration, student
assignment,
etc.) to ensure the smooth operation of the technology components of
these
activities;
Prepares or
oversees the preparation of federal and state reporting, as required by law;
Keeps process
documentation current and continuously strives to improve process work flow;
Confirms and
communicates status of student information in general;
Confirms and
communicates results regarding the status of specific student
information
reports and initiatives;
Evaluates all
processes for future planning and continuous improvement; and
Performs
other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Broad knowledge of the PGCPS network;
Considerable knowledge and experience in technologies related to
student information and human resource data systems;
Excellent troubleshooting skills;
Knowledge and experience with Oracle
PL/SQL;
Knowledge
and experience in the configuration ofand integration of student information systems;
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; and
Excellent human relation skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or
Information Technology with at least five (5) years supporting student
information systems or a large scale ERP system; or any combination of
applicable education, training, and experience, which provides the knowledge,
skills and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
