POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum &
Instruction, the Project Manager – Curriculum & Instruction will be
responsible for performing the technical work necessary to carry out the
management, planning, data analysis and associated tasks for the Department of
Curriculum and Instruction. The incumbent of this position will be responsible
for planning, executing and finalizing projects, and will oversee the financial
administration of project funds, when applicable. The Project Manager will collaborate with
supervisors to ensure programs accomplish their approved initiatives and meet
compliance and reporting requirements.
The incumbent of this position will provide a wide range of strategic
planning and analytical support based on data analysis and performance
measurement activities for the department.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Provides
technical assistance to department projects and proposals related to curriculum
and instruction in areas such as early grade reading and math and other
innovative educational initiatives;
Provides
a wide range of strategic planning, including establishing timelines for
projects, and analytical support based on data analysis and performance
measurement activities;
Encourages
and fosters a culture of innovation within the project team by promoting new
ideas, approaches and solutions to problems;
Collaborates
with the departmental staff to ensure successful management and tracking of
annual reports and other related activities;
Works
collaboratively with various departments across the division including,
Specialty Programs, Reading/English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social
Studies, Language and Literacy and others to identify opportunities for
innovation and improvement, and develops and implements plans to address them;
Maintains
grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurements, grant budgets
and monitors grant status;
Identifies
opportunities for process improvement and implements changes to enhance
department workflow, project outcomes and efficiency;
Compiles
and prepares information for state and federal reports as requested by the
Director, which includes intervention and tutoring enrollment, achievement
data, and other reports required by the Maryland State Department of Education
(MSDE), as well as reports related to other department grants;
Supports
Coordinating Supervisors with special projects, such as committee meetings, to
ensure that deadlines are met regarding communication/notification to internal
and external stakeholders; and
Performs
other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Demonstrated
ability to communicate complex ideas in a simplified, easy-to-understand
fashion to a variety of stakeholders;
Experience
with and understanding of educational program implementation data;
Strong
expertise with the Microsoft suite, specifically Microsoft Excel and the
ability to generate and manipulate pivot tables;
Deep
understanding of key concepts of data analysis, data collection and management,
and continuous improvement processes;
Demonstrated
ability to quickly learn and utilize new data reporting systems; ability to use
Oracle for all fiscal functions and ordering;
Effective
planning and organization skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and meet
deadlines in a fast-paced rigorous environment; and
Results-oriented
with a strong sense of urgency; self-starter and able to work well
independently moving a project from beginning to end with little supervision.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
in business administration, project management, education or a closely related
field required; Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years of previous experience managing
multifaceted projects with multiple teams with a track record of successfully
leading projects from conception to completion, within budget and on time
required; previous experience in a public school system preferred.
