POSITION SUMMARY:
The
Regional Technology Coordinator will be responsible for training cluster and
school-based staff in the administrative and instructional use of technology
(i.e., multimedia computers, digital video discs, telecommunications devices,
etc.) and the integration of instructional software/courseware into the Prince
George’s County Public Schools curriculum. The Regional Technology Coordinator
will report to the Director of Technology Training & Support.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Coordinates and supports information technology and
systemic initiatives and for each school;
Assists in the development and implementation of school
information technology plans as part of the school improvement plan;
Facilitates communication between teachers within the
region to share technology ideas and to develop collaborative on-line projects;
Assists in the development of an information and
instructional database which supports the curriculum;
Evaluates and troubleshoots basic hardware and software
problems to conduct training;
Provides support for all information technology users;
Provides staff development activities including
demonstration lessons using digital literacy assisted instruction and other
state of the art information and instructional technology; and
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Thorough
knowledge of networking systems, instructional management systems, and student
records systems;
Demonstrated
knowledge of curriculum and instructional programs;
Demonstrated
ability in the use of emerging technologies including information age
telecommunications and Internet skills;
Ability
to work cooperatively as a team member,;
Effective
management and administrative skills;
Effective
human relations skills;
Excellent
oral and written communication skills; and
Willingness to work flexible schedules and to
conduct evening in-services.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with
a Bachelor’s degree with a Standard Professional Certificate and five (5) years
successful teaching experience preferred; candidates with exceptional portfolios
of demonstrated technology skills will be considered with less classroom
experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
