POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the direction of the Dance Instructional Supervisor, the Resource Teacher is responsible for assisting in the monitoring of dance instruction, educational resources, Arts Integrated-related initiatives and executing administrative responsibilities as required.  The Resource Teacher – Dance assists the Instructional Supervisor with developing, executing, and providing systemic dance education opportunities to teachers and parents.  The Resource Teacher – Dance is responsible for securing and monitoring community arts partners.  The Resource Dance assists the Instructional Supervisor with all facets of curriculum development, professional development for staff, systemic dance assessments, showcases and program evaluation.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Assist in the development and implementation in the areas of elementary, middle, and high school dance curriculum; collaborate with non-arts disciplines to develop arts integrated lessons for the various content areas;

Assist in providing direct support to all classroom teachers in the areas of Arts dance instruction;

Assist in the coordination of both short and long-range planning for the improvement of the dance education program in PGCPS;

Assist in the development and implementation of professional development for all content teachers, including the designing and teaching of state approved workshops, summer institutes, after school programs, and dance education leadership conferences;

Assist in providing regional and school-level workshops on curricula issues, teaching strategies, and behavior management;

Leading PreK-12 teacher leaders and other instructional personnel in assisting teachers directly with aligning classroom strategies to the curriculum in all content areas;

Collaborate with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in support of systemic program initiatives related to dance education;

Assist in the securing and writing of grants related to dance education;

Assist in the development of monitoring tools for the evaluation of the dance instructional program;

Assist in monitoring the implementation of the dance instructional program district wide;

Assists in the management of budgets and purchase orders; and

Perform other duties as assigned by the Dance Instructional Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Five (5) years of successful teaching experience is required;

Demonstrated competence in developing and leading staff development sessions for teachers, principals, and parents;

Knowledge of state and nation standards, benchmarks, and alternative modes of assessment;

Experience in writing curriculum framework guides for dance and arts integrated curriculum desired;

Experience in writing and managing grants and budgets desired;

Thorough knowledge of instructional strategies and current trans-disciplinary practices required;

Experience in leading staff development initiatives; and

Demonstrated skill in effective human relations and in oral and written communications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university and five (5) years of successful teaching experience.  Master’s Degree preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Advanced Professional Certificate. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
