POSITION SUMMARY:
Under
the direction of the Principal, the Resource Teacher will provide support,
training, and the required assistance to successfully implement instructional
programs and materials to our students. The Resource Teacher will assist with
the planning, developing, and implementing of curriculum, assessments, and
professional development. They will collaborate with the principal, teachers
and paraprofessional educators to monitor the effective implementation of the
programs and provide recommendations for adjustment if necessary.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Meets regularly with subject coordinator;
Assists with the planning, developing, and implementing
of curriculum, assessments, and professional development;
Encourages schools to utilize data to make sound
decisions for students and to differentiate instruction;
Provides modeling and strategies for optimum teaching delivery
and student results;
Attends and actively participates in
staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instruction
goals, objectives and methods;
Confers with school counselors and teaching staff to
obtain additional testing information and to gain insight on
student behavioral disorders affecting learning process;
Attends professional meetings and participates in
teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences, as necessary;
Writes reports, maintains required records and follows
required procedures and practices;
Provides leadership in the utilization of student records
and test results; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge
of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques,
current trends, research, and materials of instruction in field of
specialization;
Excellent
knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process;
Ability
to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural
education;
Ability
to infuse technology into curriculum;
Good
knowledge and understanding of the teaching /learning process;
Ability
to work effectively with administration, colleagues, central office staff, students,
parents and community; and
Excellent
oral and communication skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in
applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or
university and five (5) years of successful teaching experiences at both the
primary and intermediate levels.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A
Professional Certificate (Advanced Professional Certificate preferred)
appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of
Education.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees
and provides support to staff assigned to implement the computerized
intervention program with fidelity.
