POSITION SUMMARY:


  Under the leadership of the Director of the Department of Special Education, the CEIS RtI Resource Teacher will provide support, training and required assistance to successfully implement the PGCPS Response to Intervention (RtI) program in targeted elementary schools. The RtI Resource Teacher will collect, monitor, and analyze data on the implementation of the RtI process and student achievement in selected schools for the purpose of providing feedback to key stakeholders.     

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Monitors the implementation of the RtI process in targeted schools to ensure that the PGCPS Administrative Procedure 5124 and the evidenced-based interventions are implemented as intended;

Collaborates with selected schools to address and problem-solve issues or questions about implementing the RtI model, with an understanding that each school will have different needs based on their population;

Coordinates RtI program components and materials for the purpose of meeting student needs while complying with district and/or program guidelines;

Provides support and models effective strategies to implement tiered interventions with fidelity;

Consults with teachers, parents and students, advising on strategies and activities that may be used to enhance a student’s academic skills;

Confers with students, teachers and parents regarding the Response to Intervention (RtI) progress;

Attends and actively participates in Collaborative and School Instruction Team (SIT) meetings and provides input regarding the implementation of instructional/behavioral interventions;

Plan and implement ongoing professional development on the implementation of the RtI program and the RtI Online Tracking Tool;

Collects data and provides feedback to teachers, principals and the Department of Special Education on the fidelity of the implementation of RtI and focused intervention programs;

Writes reports, maintains required records and follows required procedures and practices; and

Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Knowledge and experience in implementing and evaluating the RtI model, which integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and to reduce behavior problems;

Ability to present information effectively, both verbally and in writing, and respond appropriately to questions and concerns;

In-depth knowledge of reading and mathematical processes, instruction, assessment, Tier 1, 2, & 3 interventions, goals and objectives of the elementary reading and mathematics curriculum, and current educational trends;

Good knowledge and understanding of the teaching/learning process;

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to the instructional program;

Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office staff, students, parents and community; and

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university and five (5) years of successful teaching experiences at the elementary level.

 

 



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


 

A Professional Certificate (Advanced Professional Certificate preferred) appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
